Unilever Faces New Attack From Investors Over Health Credentials | Bloomberg
20 January 2022This article published in Bloomberg in January 2022 covers the health-focussed resolution co-filed at Unilever by a group of investors coordinated by UK Responsible Investment charity ShareAction.
The resolution urges Unilever to:
- Disclose the current proportion of sales linked to healthier products – as defined by government-endorsed nutrient profiling models,
- Set targets to “significantly increase” that share by 2030, and
- Publish an annual review of progress.
“The Access to Nutrition Initiative, a benchmarking organization for food companies, found last year that less than a fifth of Unilever’s sales of food and drinks were derived from healthy products. By comparison, such products made up 60% of sales at Danone SA and 40% at Nestle SA, it said.”
