Towards Zero Tolerance: Eliminating Trans Fats from the Edible Oil Industry
28 May 2025ATNi is launching its new research Edible Oil Supplier Index during a virtual launch event 'Towards Zero Tolerance : Eliminating Trans Fats from the Edible Oil Industry' in partnership with Resolve to Save Lives.
Trans Fatty Acids (TFA) pose major health risks to cardiovascular disease, and their elimination is regulated in more than 60 markets globally. Yet industrially produced TFA and partially hydrogenated oils remain present in commodity supply chains around the world. A 2023 study commissioned by WHO and conducted by ATNi (Access to Nutrition initiative) found that 53% of products from 12 of the largest global food & beverage companies contained TFA, with 5% of products containing levels of TFA exceeding WHO guidelines.
New research from ATNi looks at the systems edible oil suppliers have in place to ensure iTFA and partially hydrogenated oils are eliminated from their products. ATNi is launching its new research during a virtual launch event in partnership with Resolve to Save Lives:
“Towards Zero Tolerance: Eliminating Trans Fats from the Edible Oil Industry.”
Date: Wednesday, May 28
Time: 13:00–14:30 CET
